  • Convenient cut pieces of DuPont Nomex 410 for jobs that don’t need a whole metre.
  • Available in the full range of thicknesses.
  • Cut in our Australian factory from genuine, high quality Nomex 410 Electrical Insulation Paper.
  • Excellent electrical properties, mechanically strong and able to withstand temperatures to 220°C.

Ideal for all kinds of low, medium or high voltage electrical insulation requirements, DuPont™ Nomex 410® Insulation Paper is an industry standard. In addition to offering this quality, calendared aramid paper by the metre, we are also very pleased to offer it here in pre-cut sheets for those jobs that don’t need a larger amount.

These smaller sheets are ideal for electronics tinkers, DIYers and small-scale repair jobs. They are cut to order (hence the 2-3 day dispatch time) in our Australian factory and available in the full range of stocked Nomex 410 thicknesses.

Apart from the size, there’s no difference between these and the larger material so the numerous physical, electrical and chemical resistance properties of Nomex 410 apply here as well. These include:

Excellent Dielectric Strength and Electrical Insulation Properties.

Whether you need to insulate around battery terminals, transformer components or high voltage stator coils, you can count on Nomex 410. This flexible electrical insulation paper has very good dielectric strength and breakdown voltage characteristics.

As with all electrical insulation materials, thickness and density have an effect of the typical electrical properties. The table below provides an overview for each thickness.

High Temperature and Flame Resistance.

Nomex® 410 has been recognised by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for continuous use in applications up to 220°C. Additional testing has also confirmed that Nomex 410 will maintain a high dielectric strength (12 kV/mm) for several hours at up to 400°C.

Nomex® products do not melt and, with a limiting oxygen index (LOI) at 220°C above 20.8 (the critical value for combustion in normal air), they do not support combustion.

Excellent Mechanical Strength.

This industrial electrical insulation paper is strong, tough and resilient. In the thinner grades, it is also quite flexible while the thicker styles tend to have more rigidity. Once again, specific mechanical properties vary depending on the thickness of the Nomex. The table below contains more information.

Wide Ranging Chemical Compatibility.

Nomex® is essentially unaffected by most solvents and is unusually resistant to attacks by acids and alkalis.  It is compatible with all classes of varnishes and adhesives, transformer fluids, lubricating oils and refrigerants.

Applications for Small Sheets of Nomex 410 Electrical Insulation Paper.

These smaller sheets of Nomex 410 are usually used in much the same way as the larger quantities, just for smaller scale work. Some of the more common applications include:

  • Insulation around battery terminals and connections.
  • Transformer insulation.
  • As a flexible electrical insulation barrier for data centre equipment and UPS devices.
  • As a heat deflector in the transport and automotive industries.
  • For making high temperature, abrasion resistant washers and seals.
  • For making new skins for bongo drums (seriously).
