  • Extreme temperature resistance: 280°C continuous
  • High strength and excellent wear resistance
  • Exhibits high adhesion to a wide variety of metal surfaces

Weicon Titanium Repair Stick is a very high quality, specialised type of epoxy putty with exceptionally high temperature resistance. This type withstands ongoing exposure to temperatures as high as 280°C and will even tolerate short-term spikes (of no more than 2 hours) up to 300°C. This, combined with its excellent physical toughness, wear resistance and adhesion, makes it ideal for use in repairing, sealing, patching and filling holes in demanding areas.

Weicon Titanium Repair Stick is manufactured in Germany from a special kind of epoxy resin combined with titanium fillers. It is grey green in colour after curing and has a very long pot life (0f about 70 minutes) to allow for very precise placement and shaping. Once curing does commence, handling strength will be achieved in about 2 hours while mechanical strength (50% of final) takes about 8 hours.

Titanium Repair Stick is designed specifically for long lasting, permanent repairs to metal sheets, parts and components. To allow this, it bonds very well to these types of surfaces.

Applications for Titanium Repair Sticks

  • Repairs to holes and leaks in tanks and conduit pipes
  • Repairs, filling and gap covering on aluminium, light metal and diecast parts
  • Shaft, bearing, pump and pump casing repairs and reconditioning
  • Reconditioning defective or damaged threads
  • Injection moulded part repair.

Titanium Repair Stick Adhesion Compatibility with Various Material Types

Metal (e.g. stainless steel, brass, cast iron, aluminium) Highly Compatible
Hard Plastics* (e.g. epoxy laminates, rigid PVC) Compatible
Wood (e.g. oak, beech, spruce, balsa) Compatible
Derived Timber Products (e.g. plywood, MDF) Compatible
Fibre Reinforced Materials (e.g. GFRP, CFRP, Fibreglass) Compatible
Glass, Ceramics Compatible
Stone (e.g. granite, brick, concrete, marble) Compatible
Rubber Elastomers Not Compatible

*Performance will vary depending on the exact type of plastic being bonded. Generally, low surface energy plastics will be much harder to bond to then high surface energy (such as rigid PVC).

Do I need to do anything special to the surface before sticking the repair stick?

Not really. Just make sure it’s clean and free of dirt, dust or grease. If you’re sticking to really smooth surfaces and it’s possible, adhesion will be improved if you roughen the bonding area a little first. Just a bit of sandpaper will often do the job here.

Does it shrink?

Only a very tiny bit. Linear shrinkage is less than 1% during the curing process.

What do I cut bits off with?

Pretty much anything. Really, a butter knife will do the trick here. One thing worth remembering, since pot life is so quick make sure you just cut off and knead the amount you’re going to use immediately. Also, be sure to clean you’re cutting tool as quickly as possible as parts of the putty can stick and cure on it.

Does it conduct electricity?

No. Being an epoxy resin based product, Plastic Repair Sticks are dielectric and have a dielectric strength of 3kV/mm according to ASTM D149 testing.

What if I don’t use the whole pack?

That’s fine. Just make sure you only mix the amount you need. Pot life doesn’t start until the two components are mixed which is why you need to cut off and knead just the amount you are going to use. It is suggested that any remains have their little foil cover put back over the end, be placed back in their tube, and be kept in the fridge if at all possible as this will extend the useful life of the product.
