3M 1245 Embossed Copper Foil EMI Shielding Tape is a specialised type of electro-magnetic interference (EMI) protection tape manufactured by 3M. This tape consists of a very thin, 0.04mm layer made from dead soft copper that is coated on one side with a high strength adhesive.
The backing layer on 3M 1245 has been pressed so that it has an embossed pattern. This is noteworthy as it allows for the copper to cut through the adhesive to create a physical and highly reliable conductive pathway for current between the application surface and the copper foil on the tape.
When the adhesive is included in the measurements, 3M 1245 Embossed Copper Foil EMI Shielding Tape has a total thickness of 0.101mm. It is flame retardant and bonds well to a range of materials. The copper foil backing can be soldered and resists oxidation and discoloration. Each roll is supplied with a removable liner that comes off easily for simple application.
