3M 4991 VHB Double Sided Adhesive Foam Tape is a premium grade of double sided adhesive foam tape and part of the 3M VHB tape family. This exceptional tape is manufactured from a 2.3mm thick grey foam backing that is coated on both sides with an acrylic based multi-purpose adhesive. Finally, the outer layer is protected with a red, polyethylene film liner that is easy to remove.
The conformable foam used for 3M 4991 VHB Double Sided Adhesive Foam Tape is very flexible and compressible. This makes the tape ideal for filling gaps or voids. It also makes it highly suitable for use when bonding to irregular or painted or sealed porous surfaces like wood or concrete. It also allows the tape to provide good cushioning, dampening and impact resistance.
The acrylic adhesive on both sides of the foam is a multi-purpose type which works with most materials. These include aluminium composite panels, glass, acrylics, polycarbonate (plexiglass, Lexan), architectural facades and most medium surface energy plastics (plasticised vinyl, rigid PVC). It can be used outdoors where it provides good, long-term performance.
3M 4991 VHB Double Sided Adhesive Foam Tape is an attractive alternative to many kinds of mechanical fasteners like bolts, screws or rivets. Compared to these devices it allows you to easily hide the fastening device to create a clean final appearance and also distributes stress and weight across the entire bonding area.
3M 4991 VHB Double Sided Adhesive Foam Tape adheres immediately to surfaces on which it is applied and then develops greater and greater strength over time. Full bond will be achieved in about 72 hours (depending on installation conditions like temperature and humidity). This tape will withstand continuous exposure to temperatures up to 93°C plus short-term spikes up to 121°C.

Is there any limit to the temperatures this should be used in?
Room temperature is fine but try and make sure the room isn’t too cold. Anything above about 15°C is ideal.

Not of this particular grade. We do have quite a selection of double sided tapes though and all are classified by colour. You can check them out here.
Are other sizes available?
