Weiconlock AN 302-80 Pipe and Thread Sealing Adhesive is a high strength, high viscosity grade designed for sealing metal connections as well as larger diameter pipes. It is particularly well suited for locking and sealing those connections made from passive metals such as high alloyed steel, aluminium, nickel, zinc or chromed metals.
This grade of anaerobic adhesive is manufactured in Germany by Weicon and offers a variety of benefits. These are expanded on in the sections below:
Our Weiconlock AN 302-80 is a high temperature grade of anerobic adhesive. This glue will withstand continuous exposure to temperatures between -60°C and +200°C.
Weiconlock AN 302-80 has an extremely fast cure time. You can expect it to achieve handling strength (about 35% of final) after just 5 to 10 minutes.
AN 302-80 is one of our specialised grades of threadlocking adhesive. This type is very good for bonding passive materials, even without the use of an activator. For most threadlockers, a passive metal presents an issue. At best, it will slow down and/or weaken curing. At worst, it will inhibit curing all together. This is not the case with Weiconlock 302-80.
This special type of adhesive is designed to work with these passive materials whilst still achieving fast and strong cures.
Passive Materials | Active Materials |
---|---|
High Alloyed Steel | Bronze |
Aluminium, Nickel, Zinc, Gold | Iron |
Oxide Layers | Copper |
Chromate Layers | Brass |
Anodic Coatings | Steel |

Weiconlock AN 302-80 cures with high strength for permanent bonds and seals. Strength ratings are summarised further below.
Specialised tools or the application for heat (300°C) will be required to disassemble joins made with Weiconlock AN 302-80.
Weiconlock AN 302-80 has a high viscosity of 3.000 - 6.000 mt mPa·s (according to Brookfield at 25°C). This thick nature makes it a good choice for applying to medium diameter pipes and fittings. It can cover gaps up to 0.2mm.

One of the features of all Weiconlock Threadlockers, Flange Sealants, Retaining Adhesives and Pipe Sealers is the pen system they use for most size containers (300ml varieties are supplied in cartridges and are the one exception).
This special pen makes accurate application natural and easy. It also helps to reduce wastage as there’s less chance of spillage.
The Weicon Pen System has been used in all kinds of industries all over the world for decades and continues to be a key point of difference for these German-Made adhesives.
WEICONLOCK® are one-component anaerobic adhesives and sealants, especially made for metal assembly parts.
The full range covers over 60 different grades designed for everything from Thread Locking, Pipe Sealing, Flange Sealing and Retaining Cylindrical Assemblies like bearings. There are special grades for potable water applications, gas lines, oxygen service and more.
No matter the grade chosen, all types of Weiconlock Adhesive have a few things in common:
All grades of Weiconlock Adhesives are resistant to a large variety of different chemicals, fluids and gases. Some of the more common are summarised in the table below. A more comprehensive list is also available via the Media Tab..

In general, WEICONLOCK does not require special pre-treatment as slightly oily surfaces (e.g. on as received parts) will be tolerated.
However, best results will be achieved on cleaned, degreased parts (use WEICON Surface Cleaner). If required, the parts should be slightly roughened.
WEICONLOCK is ready for use and should be applied evenly direct from the bottle/tube with the dispensing tip (avoid direct contact of dispensing tip with metal). Apply continuous bead on one side of flange, join and tighten parts quickly.
For sealing applications (pipe fitting) apply WEICONLOCK in circular motions on the thread. Screw pipe threads together and tighten until desired orientation.
Do not pour back into the bottle any WEICONLOCK fluid which had contact with metal; even smallest metal particles will cause the content of the bottle to cure. In series construction, the use of manual or automatic applicators is recommended.
WEICONLOCK can be stored in the unopened original container for at least 24 months at room temperature. Keep away from heat sources and direct sunlight. The air in the bottle/tube keeps WEICONLOCK liquid.

It really depends on the type of plastic and the other surfaces. Since AN 302-80 does work with passive surfaces it is definitely possible. That said, trying to use it with a low surface energy plastic (like PTFE) could be problematic. We have seen AN 302-80 being used to lock metal bolts going into melamine though so we know it is possible. Honestly, we’d suggest a test.
Clean and dry as much as possible. Weiconlock grades will work on slightly oily surfaces but adhesion will be improved on parts that have been cleaned and degreased.
Full cure is expected to take about 2-4 hours at room temperature. The large range quoted here is a reflection of two things; the difference in what room temperature can mean and the fact that Weiconlock AN 302-80 will take slightly longer to cure on some surfaces than others.
All that being said, handling strength is achieved far faster. This will only take about 2-5 minutes.
There’s a few options. The easiest is probably to use a solvent. Our Weicon Gasket Remover will break down and allow the removal of cured residues of Weiconlock AN 302-80 though other solvents may also work.
Another option is to heat the parts to 300°C as the adhesive will break down at this temperature point. There’s two obvious drawbacks to this approach though a) you need to have the facilities to do it and b) this isn’t an option if the bonded components can’t handle this temperature (e.g. if you’ve used it to bond plastic pipe fittings).
