3M 56 Adhesive Polyester Film Electrical Tape is a high quality grade of insulation tape designed for applications that require a thin yet strong tape with high dielectric strength.

This tape consists of a 1 mil (0.025mm) thin layer of yellow polyester film that is coated on one side with a rubber-based, thermo-setting, pressure-sensitive adhesive.

This adhesive allows 3M 56 to stick well to various surfaces as it doesn’t necessarily require heat to bond. By heat curing, the thermosetting adhesive can be made to resist common industry varnish solvents.

The tape performs at temperatures of -40°C to 130°C without any loss of electrical properties. It can withstand higher-temperature conditions than tapes with acetate cloth backings

With an overall thickness of just 0.06mm, 3M 56 Electrical Tape is thin and highly conformable for tight wrapping, even around bends and odd shaped objects. It is also highly durable and provides excellent chemical, solvent and moisture resistance that resists cut-through and abrasion.
