Our Haysite HST-II is a very high quality, rigid, electrical insulation board with excellent thermal properties. This material is made from omnidirectional strands of fibreglass that are encased in a thermoset polyester resin. The result is a tough, high strength board that can be machined or cut with prevision.
HST-II meets or exceeds all requirements of a GPO-1 Electrical Insulation Material. It is typically used for making insulating parts for high voltage transformers, D.C. Motors and other applications that require a strong insulation material with excellent temperature resistance.
This quality grade of rigid insulating board is manufactured in the USA and used around the world. Some of its capabilities and benefits include:
Haysite HST-II exhibits excellent dielectric strength and electrical insulation properties. Performance capabilities of this material are summarised in the table below:
Property | Value | Test Method / Standard |
Dielectric Strength, Short Time In Oil, 1.6mm | 400 VPM | D-149 |
Dielectric Strength, Parallel, Step-By-Step In Oil, KV | 62.0 KV | D-149 |
Arc Resistance | 150 Seconds | D-495 |
Dielectric Constant @60HZ | 4.2 | D-150 |
Dissipation Factor @ 60 Hz | 0.01 | D-150 |
HST-II GPO1 Board is manufactured using a high strength polyester resin that is reinforced throughout with omnidirectional strands of fibreglass. This construction makes it ideal for machining as the scattered nature of the fibreglass means that delamination of the layers is not of concern (unlike epoxy glass which has a more layered construction).
HST-II has a high tensile strength, compressive strength and density. These attributes (and more) are detailed below:
GPO1 Electrical Insulation Boards are commonly used for making rigid insulation parts for high voltage transformers, electric motors or electrical devices running at elevated temperatures. Some of the more common applications we’ve seen include:
