Nitrile Rubber Strips are widely used for sealing, insulating and lining applications. They are often selected for their high compatibility with fuels, oils and greases. Nitrile Rubber is highly compatible with these fluids (and many more) and is a popular choice for sealing tanks, engine parts, pipelines and containers.
Our black Nitrile Rubber is a premium-grade material with a shore hardness of about 65 Shore A (+/- 5). Oftentimes referred to as NBR (Nitrile Butadiene Rubber), our Nitrile can withstand temperatures between -25°C and +90°C.
This high-quality rubber sheet is then slit to width using our cutting facilities to product these Nitrile Strips. The following sections provide a little more information on the rubber, as well as a quick guide to buying Nitrile strips online.
Nitrile Rubber has what we classify as medium temperature resistance. It can withstand continuous exposure to temperatures between -25°C and +90°C.
Black Nitrile Rubber has a smooth surface finish and is quite good at withstanding abrasion (275mm² max. @ 5N). This rubber does not have any reinforcement running through the middle of it but does posses good physical strength. It has a maximum elongation of 400% and a tear strength rating of 40 N / mm.
One of the main reasons that Nitrile is selected is its excellent fuel and oil resistance. It is not broken down by these fluids and is highly suited for sealing them long term.
In addition to the compatibility with petrol, diesel, mineral oils and greases; Nitrile is also compatible with many more fluids. These include a range of diverse chemicals like Aqueous Ammonium Nitrate, Methyl Ether and Vegetable Oils. For a full list, please refer to our Rubber Chemical Compatibility Guide. Nitrile is listed under “NBR” in the tables.
We are very pleased to offer our Nitrile Rubber Strips by the metre so you can buy as little or as much as you need for your job. To buy, simply follow these steps:
