Ramie and Flax Marine Packing Style 921 is an economical, general purpose style of compression packing. This type is able to be used in both pump and valve sealing applications and is highly flexible yet dense and long lasting. It’s made in the USA from a combination of flax and ramie fibres which are thoroughly impregnated with a proprietary tallow and wax lubricant.
The result is a low cost packing which creates long lasting seals with low friction. Ramie and Flax Marine Packing Style 921 is able to be used in temperatures up to 105°C and has excellent resistance to cold water, sea water and cold oils.
Ramie and Flax Marine Packing Style 921 is rated for use with shaft speeds up to 5 MPS and pressures up to 10 BAR.

Ramie and Flax Marine Packing Style 921 Quick Reference Guide | ||||
A box cutter (AKA Stanley knife) will get through our Marine Packing, though you may need to make multiple slices (especially with the thicker sizes). If you’re looking to ensure you achieve an exact 45° cut (for making packing rings) specialised packing scissors are best.
Do you make Packing Rings?
We can supply them, yes. We don’t make them ourselves but we do have some great partners who do here in Australia. If you’d like us to arrange some for you shoot us an email with the sizes and details of what you’re after and we can arrange a quote. We can usually turn these around fairly quickly (local stock and a local ring manufacturer helps a lot with this).
