Viton is typically specified for applications that require the sealing performance and compressibility of a rubber but the capacity to withstand attach from corrosive media. In these applications, Viton has no peers amongst rubber compounds and exhibits the most wide-ranging, reliable chemical resistance of any known type of elastomer.
Viton rubber is particularly good at sealing oils, fuels, lubricants and mineral acids. It also has excellent resistance to aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons that can act as solvents with many other types of rubber.
