  • Versatile closed cell rubber sponge / foam tape witha peel-off adhesive for easy application.
  • Achieves water tight seals at just 10% compression
  • Durable and long lasting and can be used indoors or outdoors.

Adhesive Sponge Rubber Neoprene Tape is a form of closed cell rubber tape that is both very economical and versatile. This tape has a peel-off adhesive on one side and can be easily stuck in place on most types of surfaces and materials. When it’s compressed (by just 10%) this tape will form a water tight seal that is very long lasting.

Based on Neoprene rubber, this tape is an excellent option for sealing around things like windows, doors or joins in metal with narrow sealing faces and little compression. It is flame retardant and able to be used indoors or outdoors. Being a Neoprene based rubber sponge tape, it also has excellent resistance to oil, weather and ozone.

Depending on who you ask, this type of tape can go by a number of different names. These include generic terms like weather-strip and sponge rubber tape through to more precise names like Closed Cell Sponge Rubber, Chloroprene Sponge Tape and Adhesive Backed Neoprene Sponge. No matter the name used, this tape has a number of uses.

Are other colours available?

Not of this particular grade. Similar grades that are available in either grey or white can be arranged upon request though.

How much force will need to be applied before it compresses?

Not a great deal. You’ll be able to achieve the 10% minimum requirement for water tightness with just your fingers.

Are other thicknesses available?

Unfortunately, not as standard, no. This tape can be layered but we’ll be the first to admit this could be a bit messy and tricky to do accurately over long lengths.

How do I cut it?

You’ll be able to get through this with scissors or a sharp Stanley knife (box cutter) without any problems.

What does peel-off adhesive mean?

It refers to an adhesive that also has a release liner in place. Put another way, the adhesive sits between the tape on one side and a white liner on the other. You remove (peel off) this white liner to expose the adhesive and stick it and the rubber tape down.

Is this the same as Neoprene foam tape?

Yes. In our experience we have found that sponge and foam are used pretty much interchangably when describing this tape. That said, there are many different kinds of sponge or foam rubber tape out there. Each grade and style if different.
