Plastic Bond is a specialised type of Methyl Methacrylate Adhesive (MMA) that has been designed specifically for bonding plastics both to themselves and to other materials. This solvent-free adhesive exhibits excellent adhesion to most plastics, aluminium, steel, and many more materials.
More information on the various characteristics and capabilities of this glue is provided in the following sections.
The table below provides an overview of the Shear Strength achieved by Plastic Bond with various material types. All were tested in accordance with Din 53281 standards.
Aluminium | 20 N/mm² |
---|---|
Sand Blasted Steel | 23 N/mm² |
Stainless Steel | 22 N/mm² |
Polycarbonate | 11 N/mm² |
PMMA | 9 N/mm² |
ABS | 7 N/mm² |
Hard PVC | 12 N/mm² |
Fibreglass Reinforced Polyester | 21 N/mm² |
Fibreglass Reinforced Epoxy | 22 N/mm² |
Polyamide 6.6 | 1 N/mm² |
Plastic Bond has a fast cure time making it suitable for use in many production line environments. It will achieve 35% of final strength after about 40 minutes and 50% after 60 minutes. Curing will be complete after 12 hours.
A two-part adhesive, Plastic Bond requires no measuring or complex mixing. Simply reject the first centimetre of the dosed bead. Mix the product thoroughly on a surface. Apply adhesive mixture quickly to only one of the surfaces to be bonded. Join both surfaces immediately afterwards.
Plastic Bond is also compatible with our Quadro Mixing Nozzles if this method is preferred.
Plastic Bond has a good, thick nature which allows it to be applied accurately to small parts, narrow walls, and vertical surfaces. Viscosity is listed as 40.000 - 60.000 mPa·s.
Plastic Bond is used in all kinds of industries and applications where a strong, lasting adhesive is required. These include plastic fabrication, electrical engineering, wood processing, metal construction, vehicle repairs, mechanical engineering and more.
