Plastic Metal B is a liquid version of our popular, Plastic Metal A Steel Filled Compound. While A is more like a putty, Plastic Metal B is a liquid once the two parts are mixed making it better suited for applications that require a repair compound that can be poured.
In its liquid form, Plastic Metal B can be easily applied to a variety of surfaces. Pot life is about 60 minutes giving you a good amount of time to work with it. It can be applied in layers of up to 10mm in a single pour.
This high-quality epoxy resin is manufactured by Weicon in Germany. More information on the various attributes and capabilities of this liquid epoxy repair compound is included throughout the below sections.
Once cured, this epoxy repair compound is very hard. It has a shore D hardness rating of 90 and a pressure rating of 110 MPa.
Bending resistance is measured at 52 MPa.
The entire range of Weicon Plastic Metal products has good chemical resistance. They are all resistant to most oils, greases, many types of fuel and water.
They also withstand attack from most diluted acids and many other common industrial fluids. More information on resistance to specific chemicals is provided on our Plastic Metal B TDS.
Once cured, this quality epoxy compound can be used in applications where temperatures are between -35°C and +120°C.
Weicon Plastic Metal B is a two-part compound with a 100:7 mix ratio. Room has been left inside the larger of the two containers to let you add the entirety of the activator liquid and mix the two parts thoroughly. This removes the need for measuring and ensures a correct mix ratio is achieved each time.
Once mixed, Plastic Metal B has a viscous nature that allows it to be poured over surfaces and smoothed with a spatula or similar tool.
Pot life for the mixture is 60 minutes (at 20°C). After 16 hours, the compound will be able to bear mechanical loads. After 24 hours full cure will have been achieved.
This high-quality epoxy is used around the world is a variety of different industries and applications. Some of the more popular include…
